Questions

macOS says Clipper "can't be opened" or can't verify it

Clipper isn't notarized by Apple yet, so macOS warns about it the first time. That warning appears for every app Apple hasn't checked. To open it:

  1. Drag Clipper to Applications and open it. When the warning appears, click Done.
  2. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to Security and click Open Anyway next to Clipper.
  3. Open Clipper again and click Open.

Or run this once in Terminal: xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Clipper.app

Why does it need Screen Recording and Microphone?

Screen Recording lets macOS give Clipper your display and system audio. Microphone adds your voice. Clipper only holds the most recent clip length in memory and writes a file only when you press the hotkey. After you allow access, quit and reopen the app once.

Where are my clips saved?

In Movies › Clipper by default. You can pick any folder in Settings.

Which screen does it record?

Your main display (the one with the menu bar).

What happens when I share a link?

Only when you click Share Link, Clipper uploads a smaller copy of that one clip to a free file host (Litterbox, Uguu or Gofile) and copies a link that opens a player page on macclipping.com. Anyone with the link can watch it until it expires. Your original file never changes.

Does Clipper update itself?

Yes. It checks for new versions and shows an Updates tab with a one-click install.
